Living Green

This is what I'd build, if I were a developer:
-housing built to green specifications (with green materials) in an energy efficient manner- use of porches, overhangs, etc.
-solar water heaters and roof panels
-community garden (pesticide-free of course)
-water conservation engineering
-clubhouse for events
-composting bins for each household
-recycling facilities
-homes that actually look different from one another
-nearby wildlife habitat
-nontraditional "lawns" that are xeriscaped and attract wildlife (little mowing involved)
So if I win the lottery, that's what I will set up. An actual community. And really I'd just build it so that I could live somewhere like that.

Never heard of Xeriscaping - very interesting.

Did you ever see the Extreme Makeover Home Edition where they recycle the house they destroyed and built the new one with all recycled products and made the house 70% more fuel efficient. I don't know why they don't do that on all their houses...
